Farming can be classified into four types :
1. Crop Farming
In Crop Farming the land is utilized for growing crops only; vegetables, fruits, and grain.
2. Hay Farming
In Hay farming, the land is utilized for growing hay only. Grass and legumes are planted to be harvested and sold to livestock owners. In other cases, hay is sometimes also grown to be exported to other countries.
3. Livestock Farming
Livestock Farming is raising and caring for livestock animals; cattle, chickens, pigs, sheep, etc. Though it is difficult to generalize the livestock farming because each farm has its own way of raising livestock. Livestock needs to be feed and raising livestock also involves the breeding operation.
4. Mixed Farming
Mixed Farming involves two or more types of farming in one operation and probably the most common is raising livestock and crop farming.
